COMMUNICATIONS
Radios
The team has 39 hand held radios which have been issued out to all full team members. We also have 6 vehicle sets and 2 base sets. These radios where supplied to us through the Mountain Rescue Council of Scotland.
Repeater
The repeater is used in black spots where base losses contact with groups that go into these areas. It is set up and left, until this piece of equipment came along a team member would have to have sat and acted as a link.
Pagers
The team holds 21 pagers .The police send out a message asking the team to get in touch with the incident room. One of the leaders will make contact with the police and decide what action should be taken. Once the leader has decided what action has to be taken, they will keep the team informed through the pagers. If it does turn out be a full team callout the callout organisers will contact their respective groups. The pagers are supplied by the police.
Mobile Phones
The team has 3 mobile phones, one for each of the vehicles and one for the base. The police have supplied us with the sim cards. Now the team can be called out to a rescue by text, where the team leader phones up an sms service & sends the message to all the team mobile phones. Which cuts down in the time we arrive at a rescue.
