Thank you for taking the time to look at this years Guided walks.
We are, like previous years aiming these walks at everyone from the young to the not so young.
We asked Knowepark Primary School, Selkirk, to design a poster to help publicise this years walks and I am sure you agree that the winning entry is something to be proud of. Congratulations to the winner Gabriella Mcleister!!.
Because we asked children of Primary School age to design the poster, we thought it would be only right to give all ages the option of a walk, so have included one with these youngsters in mind.
To allow Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team to thank walkers for their generosity over the years we are not asking for sponsorship or donation.
However if you feel you would like to raise funds as part of the walk then feel free to do so. It would be very much appreciated.
There are three Walks in total:
1. Long Walk:
15.5 km – 5 - 6 1/2 hrs.
This walk leaves Yarrowford, heads by way of the Minch Moor to join with the Southern Upland Way. It then heads for the Three Brethren. From there it heads South East for approximately 750 metres before heading South West over Foulshiels Hill. It then makes its way back to the start point by way of Broadmeadows Youth Hostel.
2. Medium Walk:
10.5 km – 3 - 4 hrs.
Like the previous Walk we leave Yarrowford and head onto the Minchmoor Road before joining the Southern Upland Way. We head for the Col at Grid Reference NT 402 326. We then head South to Broadmeadows Farm and then back to the start point.
3. Short Walk:
4.5 km – 1.5-2hrs.
This Walk will take place in Black Andrew Wood in near-bye Bowhill Estate. It is a circular walk and is designed to get the youngest members involved in this year’s event.
