Funding

The Team is a Charity and has to raise all of the funds it requires itself. It currently takes about £18,000 to cover the Team's expenses for one year. Over the last 4 years, mountain rescue teams across Scotland have received some support from the Scottish Executive, although this is not sufficient to cover all of the expenses of running the team, and is not guaranteed for the future.

Fundraising

As an independent local charity, we work hard to raise as much money as we can from a variety of sources for our worthwhile and very necessary services. This is particularly important, as we have to raise funds through our own initiative. Financial help, from whatever source, and for however much someone can afford, is always gratefully received and put to good use.

Events

Each year the Team runs several walking events to raise funds for our operations. You can find further details of ScotPLOD held in June and the Charity Walk, which is held in September.

Giving

If you would like to support Tweed Valley MRT there are four easy ways to donate:

  1. Charity Choice
  2. Direct Money Transfer
  3. By Cheque or Postal Order
  4. Standing Order

If you are a tax payer, Gift Aid enables the Team to reclaim up to 28p for every pound donated from the Inland Revenue at no cost to the giver. This means that £50 can be turned into £64 through Gift Aided donations. Please consider Gift Aiding your donation to further increase its benefit to us. If you would like to enhance your donation in this way, please contact the Team's Treasurer for further details.

Legacies and Bequests

We are sure you will appreciate that we cannot continue to provide our services without the generosity of our supporters. Our supporters matter and do make a crucial difference. One way they make a difference is through a gift in their Will; which is also called a Legacy or Bequest. If and when the time is right for you, after you have provided for your family and friends; it would help us if you could consider leaving us a gift in your Will. Always take legal advice before making or altering your will. Supporters who leave us a gift really make a difference!
